Preparing for the future expansion of the Churnet Valley Railway
A recent loan arrangement for a BR WHALE ballast wagon has proven immensely useful in the ongoing restoration efforts of the Churnet Valley Railway, with the vehicle becoming an almost essential piece of equipment in the engineering work.
With plans to reopen additional stations and lines in the future across North Staffordshire, we are eager to bolster our ballast handling capacity to ensure a smooth and efficient rebuilding process. While the WHALE wagon is a unique survivor in preservation we have come across a SEALION, its slightly smaller cousin, capable of handling 40-tonnes of ballast compared to the WHALE's 51-tonnes capacity. We have been presented the opportunity to purchase and transport this SEALION for £5000, and this is where we need your help.
We are seeking the support of 20 individuals or groups who are willing to contribute £200 each. By doing so, you will play a crucial role in helping us acquire the SEALION wagon and significantly improve our engineering train's capabilities.
Your generosity won't go unnoticed. As the CVR's supporting charity, we will be able to claim Gift Aid on all donations, allowing us to reach our fundraising goal swiftly. Every contribution, big or small, will make a tremendous difference in our mission. We understand that the behind-the-scenes work may not always receive the glory it deserves, but it's these efforts that keep our railway thriving and moving forward.
With your support, we can ensure that the CVR becomes the best it can be, creating memorable experiences for our passengers for years to come. If you've supported us in the past, we're truly grateful for your commitment to our cause. We hope that you'll consider joining us once again as we embark on this exciting phase of development.
A dedicated page to donate to has been created >>here<<, if you are able to donate we will be most grateful. We showed with the Coach Appeal that small donations combined soon add up, and we hope that our supporters will once more come together to make dreams reality. In a little over a week supporters have raised nearly half the amount required - so we are truly positive of successfully achieving our goal.
