Bringing Signalling to Cheddleton station
You will have seen a little under a fortnight ago we released a call for help, in terms of financial sponsorship to cover the purchase of twelve motor relays for the first part to Cheddleton Signalling scheme.
Well with thanks to all your contributions, not only did we meet our target of twelve relays but we’ve been able to fund an additinal pair! The order was placed on 4th August to which delivery is estimated at fifteen weeks - so that takes us to around the 17th November for arrival.
The first four will be installed almost instantly, with the rest being installed during 2024 at various points (ignore the pun!). Our target is to have the first phase of the Cheddleton scheme implemented for the start of the 2024 season in February next year – please keep an eye on the socials & The Knotty for further updates as this scheme develops. The first physical signs should come this autumn, though regular visitors may already recognise some subtle changes around the site.
Thank You to those that supported us as it is a real confidence boost that you believe in what we are doing, and encourages us to make the best of what we can in enhancing the Churnet Valley Railway. With developments at Leek progressing, there is a real buzz around the railway as we are in an exciting phase of the railway's development. We look forward to continuing this journey with you all, and if you fancy coming to see what is happening please do feel free to pop down to pay us a visit.
